Mark Berman is an Amsterdam based sound designer, composer and explorer of adventurous sounds. Imaginative experiments with modular synthesizers are at the core of his work which often bears significant meditative character.

Berman draws the inspiration and pays homage to the work of the composer and percussionist Midori Takada. In her percussive and ambient music she has been utilizing minimal approach combined with her experience from a study of African drumming and Asian music.

With Vlam Variations the organic sound of percussions is translated in somewhat familiar percussive ambient textures that at the same time sound fresh and mesmirizing.
